Pastors Steve, Dave, and I were talking last week about pastoral ministry. In that conversation, we reflected on the apostles’ commitment recorded in Acts:
“But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”
Acts 6:4 (ESV)
How imperative that these priorities define a pastor’s ministry! We encouraged each other in these pursuits, and agreed that a simple yet significant way we could communicate their importance was by referring to our locations on campus as “studies” rather than “offices.”
We’re not the first to have thought of this. Here is a short article I found helpful:
It may take a little while to get used to the name change. But I think it’s worth it. So the next time we have an appointment, let’s meet in my study.
