“It’s interesting to reminisce about what God used to bring you to faith. For some of us, that was a recent event that is easy to recall, whereas for some of us, it may have been long enough ago that we don’t think about it much. Think back to what God used, the circumstances, the people, the events, to bring you to himself… For me, it was finally being exposed to people who had authentic faith. They were by no means perfect, yet they comprised a group, that for the first time in memory, actually tried to live out the faith they talked about on Sundays. It was strange and intoxicating for me, who as a young man, had given up ever finding people who were not overtly hypocritical. Now compare your experience. I would imagine that for many of you, if not most, God used similar people to bring you to himself. People who walked “…in a manner worthy of the calling to which they had been called.” (Eph.4:1) I have been reminded recently of the impact that this type of authentic faith has had in my life and then ran across an article that further reminded me of this truth. Let us together be encouraged and reminded, that people are not so much listening to what we say, as they are watching how we live.
The article below recounts how this happened with one man in his home, watching how his parents lived. It’s worth reading.
