Jr High Winter Camp 2011

Jr High Winter Camp 2011

Wow!  What a weekend!  We just missed the snow that we were hoping to get, but we had a great time up in Big Bear this last weekend!  We got a bit of snow, as you can see to the left, but the big storm came just after we had left. We had about 30 kids attend, including quite a few SGCS kids, which was great!  We enjoyed meals together, froze outside together, and looked at the Word of God together during our 4 sessions through out the weekend. They had a blast paint balling, in archery, snowball fighting, sledding and more!

Russ started out time in the Word Friday night in Ephesians 2:1-10.  We looked at the reality of being with “dead in your trespasses” or “made alive with Christ” and how one gets to be made alive.  We continued Saturday morning in Galatians 5:16-26 and looked at the works of the flesh as contrasted with the fruit of the Spirit.  We talked about how if you’re dead in your trespasses (Eph.2), then your life will be characterized by the works of the flesh, and if you’ve been made alive with Christ, your life should be characterized by the Fruit of the Spirit. We then moved Saturday night into I John 1:5-10, where Light and darkness are contrasted.  We talked about the reality of how important it is that your life back up what you say you believe.  That if we say we have fellowship with God, and yet walk in darkness, that we are liars and the truth is not in us.  Sunday morning we talked through some implications for our lives in light of the texts we had walked through and spent some time thinking about where we were with God.  The Lord used this time and I thank all of your for praying for this camp!  Please continue to pray that He would continue the work that He has begun up on the mountain.
