While I was poking around for an advent themed quote, I came across an advent poem by John Milton, called On the Morning of Christ’s Nativity, which he penned in 1629. I was especially impacted by the beauty of the first stanza which is quoted below: I This is the Month, and this the happy morn Wherein the Son of Heav’ns eternal King, Of wedded Maid, and Virgin Mother born, Our great redemption from above did bring; For so the holy sages once did sing, [ 5 ] That he our deadly forfeit should release, And with his Father work us a perpetual peace. What a glorious, succinct description of the gospel to ruminate on this season! You can access the entire poem here. Merry Christmas!! Geoff
